UAE President and pro-West moderniser Khalifa dies

United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a pro-Western moderniser who had aligned the Gulf Arab state closer to the United States and its allies, died on Friday May 13th.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced the death of Khalifa, who was also ruler of the UAE’s richest emirate, Abu Dhabi, but gave no details.

Khalifa, born in 1948, had rarely been seen in public since suffering a stroke in 2014. He was buried and funeral prayers were held on Friday, state news agency WAM said.

“The UAE has lost its righteous son and leader of the ’empowerment phase’ and guardian of its blessed journey,” his half-brother and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said on Twitter, praising Khalifa’s wisdom and generosity.

Under the constitution, vice-president and premier Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, would act as president until the federal supreme council which groups the rulers of the seven emirates meets within 30 days to elect a new president.

According to @GoalFrance, Christopher Wooh, (RC Lens defender, 20 years old) has accepted to join the Cameroon national team.

This comes after decisions were held with the new coach and former player of the RCL, Rigobert Song as well as with the new president of FECAFOOT , Samuel Eto’o.

The meeting of foreign players and the FECAFOOT delegations members is to bring back some talented players to the national team in respect to the world Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Present at the Auguste Delaune stadium Sunday afternoon, Samuel Eto’o took the opportunity to meet Hugo Ekitike of (Stade de Reims)to discuss him joining the Cameroon national team.

University Of Buea: JMC celebrates World Press Freedom Day

The Day started with a match pass from the University first gate to amphitheater 750 for the official ceremony.

Students and staffs wore tshirts of different colors with printed words of world press freedom day and it’s theme.

The program of the day carried A conference which had a talk on the topic journalism under Surveillance and launching of the chariot magazine.

Part two of the program was the handing of meritorious awards to some deserving personalities ranging from students, staffs and personalities of the society.

Part three was a football match between JMC football team(staffs and students) vs CAMASEJ Buea at the UB pitch.

An evening gala for all was the last part of the program to end what would be a remarkable day.
JMC celebrates Press Freedom Day under the theme: journalism under Surveillance

Staffs and Students in the department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the University of Buea will on May 3, join the world to celebrate the 2022 edition of world Press Freedom Day.

Activities to celebrate the day include a Three hours conference with two different Guest Speakers as well as the awarding of Acolytes to well deserved recipients all taking place at the Dorothy Limunga Amphitheater.

To complete the Day, a football match at the University Field will take place between JMC and CAMASEJ Buea while preparing for the evening Gala at 8Pm.
Cameroon embark on promoting Home products

The Minister of Mines,Industries and Technological Development,Gabriel Dodo Ndoke lays the foundation stone of a plantain and sorghum transformation factory in Atok, East Region this April 27.

This is one of government’s measures to promote Made in Cameroon products. The factory transforms cash crops, Rubber and other food items that can go a long way increase trade among the CEMAC Zone.

Bipindi Bridge:Project over Bella river goes effective

The revival for the project to build 55 metal bridges in #Cameroon is effective. The first to be completed and opened to traffic is the bridge over the Bella river, in the Bipindi, in the Ocean division.

According to CRTV web, The last verification operations of the functionality of the structure was supervised by the Minister of Public Works Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

The bridge would serve those in the city of Bipindi.
Bipindi is a rural commune in southern Cameroon and the department of the Ocean made up of 29 villages. It proudly covers its 170 km2 area. The main ethnic groups living there are: Ewondo, Ngumba, Fang, Bassa, Bagyeli pygmies.
2022 World Cup: The Algeria – Cameroon to be replayed

While FIFA’s verdict for the Algeria-Cameroon World Cup play-off is expected on April 21, the Egyptian TV channel “OnTime Sports” announces that there is a good chance that the match will be replayed.

FIFA is yet to make its decision on the appeal filed by Algeria. Indeed, the Algerian Football Federation has indicated that its complaint submitted to FIFA will be examined by the Disciplinary Committee on April 21, 2022

Algeria wishes to replay its lost return play-off against Cameroon. But before FIFA’s verdict, the Egyptian TV channel “OnTime Sports” declares that there is a good chance that the match lost by the Fennecs against the Indomitable Lions counting for the second leg of the 2022 World Cup will be replayed.

Douala: Bike riders Protest and block roads

Commercial Bike riders have restricted the flow of traffic by blocking the Bonakouamouang-Salle des fêtes d’Akwa road as tensions in some parts of the economic capital surfaces.

According to multiple online sources, the protest is against huge exploitations by municipal authorities.

They only feared security forces will try to use force and water canons to disperse the protesting bikers.

Meanwhile, Authorities too have remained mute over their plea and persistent complains about municipal traffic agents.
